Craft Awards

Since 1985 AGC has hosted the Craft Training Awards program, which honors outstanding vocational and craft-training instructors as well as innovative training programs. Each fall AGC accepts both self- and third-party nominations for these awards. Only programs sponsored or accredited by AGC are eligible to apply. National Construction Instructor Award

AGC established the National Construction Instructor Award in order to provide national recognition for outstanding instructors of AGC-accredited career and technical education programs, AGC-sponsored construction career academies, and AGC-sponsored industry apprenticeship and training programs. The award consists of a cash award to be not less than $500 and a plaque.

National Construction Craft Training Award

The National Construction Craft Training Award recognizes outstanding efforts to foster, promote and develop the highest standards and quality for craft training within the construction industry. The award consists of a cash award to the honored program to be not less than $1,000 and a plaque.

2008 Construction Craft Awards

Mark Knudson, instructor at the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC) of Washington, Seattle, Wash., was named the National Construction Craft Instructor Award winner for 2008. Knudson was honored for his outstanding teaching and leadership skills.

J. Doug Pruitt, AGC's Senior Vice President and the Chairman and CEO of The Sundt Companies of Arizona, presented the crystal award and a check for $1,000 to Richard Bristow, Executive Vice President of AGC of Washington, which helps support the CITC. The AGC of Washington and CITC will present the award to Mr. Knudson at a ceremony later this spring.

The Wyoming Contractors Association's (WCA) McMurry Training Center won the National Construction Craft Training Award for 2008. WCA founded the center to provide its members with continuous training of employees and a source of new workers by supporting high school, apprenticeship, and college programs teaching construction crafts and construction technology. The Center also supports the requirements of the federal apprenticeship program.
