PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Jim is a graduate of University at Buffalo and prior to college Jim started his safety career in the United States Army, responsible for safety at the battalion and brigade levels.
Upon leaving the military in 1983 his safety responsibilities continued as he assumed the duties of regional safety/security coordinator in the Buffalo area for Sibleys Department Stores. Jim was later promoted to Safety Coordinator and then Safety Director for the entire division. This included the safety & health responsibilities at 14 retail stores, two warehouses and over 3,000 employees. Jim also assumed the responsibility for May Department Stores's construction safety program for a large portion of the northeastern United States.
In 1989 Jim left the retail industry and joined a consulting firm Risk Technical Management, Inc. Jim specialized in construction safety for general and specialty contractors throughout the northeast. In 1994 Jim became one of the first Certified Construction Health and Safety Technicians in the country. In 1994 Jim came to Gow & Hanna as a Senior Loss Control Consultant with the responsibility of managing Gow & Hanna's Loss Control Services department.
In 1996 Jim was promoted to Vice President – Loss Prevention for all Gow & Hanna offices. In 1998 Gow & Hanna merged it operations with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Jim was appointed Area Sr. Vice President handling Loss Prevention services for the northeast region and Gallagher's national construction business unit. In 2000 Scott Danahy Naylon purchased the Gallagher Buffalo office and formed SDN Loss Prevention Services, which Jim currently manages. Jim and his wife Laurie live in Getzville, New York with their two sons Matt and Ryan.

HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL SAFETY EXPERIENCE
- 1996–Current First Link, Inc. formed to provide safety and risk management and services, training and consultation in construction and general industry (incorporated in 1999). Authored the Safety Partnership Program with AGC members and OSHA. The Idaho Partnership is now the most successful construction partnership OSHA has in place. It is being used as a template for others across the country. Also serving as Director of Safety for the Idaho AGC, effective March 2006.
- 1994–96 Employed by the AGC, Inc as the Director of Safety and Training. I coordinated a statewide network of AGC member Safety Professionals to service the demand of the AGC members for safety service and consultations to meet the increased demands of the OSHA laws and desire to provide a safe working environment for employees. The program in its first year exceeded the projected sales by 200% and generated a cost recovery program to build on for the future. Safety revenue reached in excess of $200,000 with 10% being returned as ?cost recovery? for the program.
- 1990–94 As a safety consultant I wrote safety and hazard communication programs, taught the OSHA courses and worked with the Associated General Contractors, Inc. and the Home Builders Association of Southwestern Idaho.
- 1988 Qualified as an OSHA 10–Hr. and 30–Hr. Safety in Construction instructor. Since 1988 have taught the 10–Hr. course to over 1,000 individuals throughout Idaho.
- 1986–90 CM Company, Inc. – Director of Safety – Initiated one of the first comprehensive safety programs for construction in the Boise area. Reduced company?s exposure from above to below average.
