On Earth Day, AGC provided a sneak peek of a new document, The AGC Playbook on Decarbonization and Carbon Reporting in the Construction Industry (Decarb Playbook), designed by contractors for contractors to help address greenhouse gas emissions for the projects they build. The final, published version and associated emissions calculator are now available for anyone to download from AGC’s website.
AGC’s Decarb Playbook provides contractors with tools to communicate effectively with project teams and successfully navigate to the complexities of carbon reporting for a project. It describes a process for identifying accountability, what to track and report, and how to do so. In addition, the playbook offers a host of industry-identified strategies and tips for reducing carbon emissions from their projects. The playbook was written by a task force the association established in early 2023. Representatives from these AGC member firms (see listing below) worked for the last year to develop the new decarbonization playbook.
