AGC Ambassador Program

INTRODUCTION

Being a new member of an organization, or attending a large conference for the first time, can be a daunting experience. In keeping with AGC’s mission for diversity and inclusion, the Ambassador Program is intended to ensure that AGC conferences and events are welcoming to all members, prospective members, and guests. Particular emphasis is placed on reaching attendees of diverse backgrounds.

Ambassadors will serve to greet members and guests who are new to the AGC Annual Convention and offer to assist with questions, share their experience, provide advice on Convention sessions and special events, identify how to get involved in AGC beyond the Convention experience, and facilitate networking with other attendees.

WHAT

The AGC Ambassador Program is led by a group of volunteers who seek to welcome new members and guests into the association and promote AGC’s value.

WHO

An AGC Ambassador is an AGC member in good standing who is committed to reaching out to new and prospective members and helping them to feel comfortable and welcome at AGC’s Annual Convention.

WHEN

An AGC Ambassador will commit to attending the AGC Annual Convention and participate in all Ambassador-related Convention activities.

The 2022 AGC Annual Convention will be held March 28-21 in Grapevine, Texas. More information about the AGC Convention can be found at convention.agc.org.

Ambassadors will be asked to participate in the New Attendee Welcome, volunteer for a 30-minute time slot at the Convention Ambassador Welcome Desk, and be visible through the Convention events to meet and greet attendees and answer questions. Networking breaks, breakfasts, lunches, and receptions serve as an ideal time for Ambassadors to engage with Convention attendees.

HOW

It is up to the Ambassador to determine when and how they will engage Convention attendees. First-time attendees will be provided the option of wearing a first-time attendee badge to assist Ambassadors in identifying these individuals.

However, Ambassadors are encouraged to approach any attendee they do not know and introduce themselves throughout the Convention. Ambassadors should be visible when attending education sessions or division/committee meetings and encourage new attendees to have a seat in the room and listen/participate in the session.

When appropriate, Ambassadors should introduce new attendees who want to get involved in AGC of America to Division/Committee/Forum chairs, vice chairs and staff.
