Diversity & Inclusion

AGC's Commitment

Latest Thoughts on AGC’s Culture of CARE/D&I programs:

AGC of America is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging in the construction industry. Our Culture of CARE program was launched to ensure that every worker feels valued, respected, and safe on the job site. It is a voluntary, business-driven initiative designed to drive higher retention, improved productivity, and safer workplaces that reflect the professionalism and best values of our industry.

AGC’s Culture of CARE and other efforts to make the construction industry more diverse and inclusive have never been about unlawful quotas, preferences, or mandates. Rather, they seek to promote equal employment opportunity for all in accordance with legal mandates – ensuring that all hardworking people have an equal shot at the American dream and are rewarded based on merit, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected class status.

Moreover, these efforts are designed to address the industry’s well-documented labor shortages. By facilitating a more diverse workforce and welcoming work environment, our programs help employers recruit and retain workers of all backgrounds into high-paying construction careers. This, in turn, supports our nation’s infrastructure development and economic growth.

President Trump’s recent executive order on federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs has encouraged us to conduct a thorough review of our diversity and inclusion initiatives and resources to ensure continued compliance with the law. This process will incorporate the latest guidance and may take a little time. We appreciate your patience.

While this review is underway, our commitment to building an inclusive and respectful industry remains unchanged. We will keep you updated as we move forward.

As always, AGC will continue to advocate for policies that support a strong, skilled, and diverse workforce. If you have any questions, please reach out.

AGC Diversity & Inclusion Forum

Join the Forum Email List Here

AGC welcomes all members and chapter staff who have an interest in construction industry diversity & inclusion issues to join the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Forum. The D&I Forum is an online, email community that enables AGC members to connect with each other, keep pace with the latest construction D&I developments, solve problems and share best practices. Participation in the Forum is not a volunteer opportunity and requires no commitment to attend meetings or serve on the D&I Committee. But it ensures prompt notification of such opportunities when they arise.

AGC Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable

AGC brings together industry leaders annually to address pivotal aspects of fostering diversity & inclusion within the construction industry. The D&I Roundtable is a full day of interactive, peer-to-peer discussions designed for individuals working for construction firms who are responsible for their company's diversity & inclusion efforts. There are no formal presentations; attendees set the agenda based on topics, challenges, or best practices they would like to discuss. Each roundtable is limited to 40 participants.

See below a recap from previous D&I Roundtables:
