This introductory webinar is designed for those in the contracting industry with little or no accounting experience. The webinar will provide a foundational understanding of key financial statements: the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. Participants will learn the components of each statement and begin to recognize their importance in assessing a company’s financial health. By the end of the webinar, attendees will be equipped with basic skills needed to support financial decision-making and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the structure and purpose of the balance sheet and how assets, liabilities, and equity are categorized
- Examine the layout and key elements of the income statement
- Describe the sections of the statement of cash flows and assess cash inflows and outflows from different activity types
- Discuss the various revenue recognition methods used in contractor accounting
- Explain how changes in job costing and estimates can have an impact on the revenue recognized in a period
