Stormwater can muddy your profits! Join the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) construction stormwater point-person for an overview of the 2017 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) general permit for stormwater discharges from construction activities to Waters of the United States, better known as the Construction General Permit (CGP). This AGC WebEd will provide background on the federal construction stormwater regulations, discuss important changes to the federal CGP, review the brand-new electronic process for starting and stopping permit coverage and lots more.
The Lane Construction’s Senior Environmental Manager (also Chairman of AGC’s Environmental Forum) will engage U.S. EPA in a question and answer session to proactively address concerns that are likely to pop-up in the minds of the GC “operators” who need to use the new permit.
With fines of up to $51,570 per day per Clean Water Act violation and the potential for all owners and operators of the construction site (e.g., developers, builders, contractors and even consulting engineers) to be joint and severally liable, you'll want to hear this!
AGC of America’s environmental advisor will moderate this WebEd and teach you how to use the AGC-supported Construction Industry Compliance Assistance (CICA) Center (www.cicacenter.org) website to find state permitting information/tools/templates for stormwater, as well as loads of additional resources on environmental compliance.
The 2017 CGP replaces EPA’s 2012 CGP, which expires Feb. 16, 2017. It directly applies where EPA is still the permitting authority (including ID, MA, NH, NM, Indian country lands, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories except the Virgin Islands) and it serves as a national model for state-issued CGPs.

Emily Halter is an economist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Wastewater Management. Emily works on issues and policy related to construction stormwater, municipal wet weather, and green infrastructure. She holds an MA in environmental policy from the George Washington University and a BA in economics from Virginia Tech.

Raised in Northern Va, Chris is responsible for overseeing environmental issues associated with Lane projects and plants, primarily within the Mid-Atlantic region, since 2005. Chris was responsible for implementing and overseeing Lane’s company-wide project Environmental Management System and has special interest in wastewater treatment. Chris has a BS in environmental sciences, with an emphasis in geology, from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Chris currently serves as the Chair of AGC's Environmental Forum Steering Committee.

If you will not be able to attend an AGC of America WebEd program for which you have already registered, you may qualify for a refund of your registration fee or be able to substitute another employee within your organization. If you cancel your registration at least ten (10) days prior to the webinar, AGC of America will provide a full refund. No refund will be provided if you do not meet this deadline, however you may transfer your registration to another employee within your organization. AGC of America will provide all registrants with a recording of the webinar and the PowerPoint slides following the program.
