U.S. Green Building Sector to Create 7.9 Million Jobs by 2013

According to a Booz Allen Hamilton study, U.S. green building projects will support or create almost 8 million jobs by 2013, after already having created 2.4 million between 2000 and 2008. This study is released amidst concerns that Republican gains in the November elections will lead to a significant cut in green spending. At the recent Greenbuild Expo in Chicago, David Foster, Executive Director of the BlueGreen Alliance, assured attendees that while the government may be lining up to cut green spending in 2011, it will not be able to ignore the proven effectiveness of green spending in generating millions of U.S. jobs for very much longer.
