Despite hard economic times, the green building industry has been expanding rapidly in past years and is predicted to continue to do so over the next few. Green Building Pro recently released its predictions for green building trends in 2011, most of which have already become popular industry practices. Predictions include a bigger push for indoor environmental quality, the use of both Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Lean Construction standards, as well as more stringent building and energy codes. Professional builders are also predicted to have better green financing options, due to more local and Federal incentives. In addition, the integration of software with building design, construction, and management, as well as the use of renewable energy sources such as fuel cells, are predicted to increase.
