Join your colleagues March 21-25, 2011 in Las Vegas for AGC of America's 92nd Annual Convention.  AGC’s Annual Convention delivers the working knowledge contractors need to improve operations, expand into new markets and build their business.  In addition to professional development sessions focused on: BIM and Technology; Executive Management; Federal Markets, Financial Management, and Risk and Liability Management, there are two events being held specifically for you by the Specialty Contractors Council. Effective Risk Management by Specialty Contractors This presentation will focus on the challenges associated with working in a more volatile financial environment, and in working in unfamiliar locations where the specialty contractor does not have a strong relationship with general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Topics will include: · Killer Prime and Subcontract and Purchase Order Clauses · Controlling Risk in the Subcontractor/Vendor Intake Process · Administration of Contracts Attendees will enhance their ability to identify, assess and plan for critical issues of risk in contracting with and dealing with general contractors as well as the selection, hiring and management of subcontractors and suppliers.  They will also learn specific practices that, if implemented, will increase the probability of project success from both financial and relationship perspectives.  Throughout the presentation, the program structure and format will encourage questions and active participation by attendees, and will further allow attendees to share and inquire concerning specific topics that affect the industry today. This session will also feature remarks from Specialty Contractors Council Chair Jim Slack, Jr. and a brief presentation from Wayne Rivers of the Family Business Institute titled “For CEOs Only – Where Do I Turn For Answers in Tough Times?” Specialty Contractors Reception Join fellow specialty contractors at this specialty contractor-only cocktail reception where you will have the opportunity to visit with old friends and meet new ones.  An additional fee of $35 is required to attend and can be paid when registering for the Convention.
