Effective Risk Management by Specialty Contractors This SCC-sponsored session was titled “Effective Risk Management by Specialty Contractors.” This presentation focused on the challenges associated with working in a more volatile financial environment, and in working in unfamiliar locations where the specialty contractor does not have a strong relationship with general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Topics included: · Killer Prime and Subcontract and Purchase Order Clauses · Controlling Risk in the Subcontractor/Vendor Intake Process · Administration of Contracts Attendees enhanced their ability to identify, assess and plan for critical issues of risk in contracting with and dealing with general contractors as well as the selection, hiring and management of subcontractors and suppliers.  They also learned specific practices that, if implemented, will increase the probability of project success from both financial and relationship perspectives.
