Commercial Buildings Going 'Net-Zero' to Improve Energy Efficiency

Credit Union CEO John Santarpia envisioned the first commercial net-zero-energy building in the state of Florida, which opened August 2009. It is this type of venture that has set the tone for energy efficiency and conservation for the next decade. Loosely defined, a net-zero-energy building is a building that produces as much energy as is consumed. Today, there are between 8 and 25 estimated net-zero-energy buildings, with as many as 50 under construction. To read more about Santarpia’s efforts and the net-zero potential, click here.
