Registration Open for 5th Annual Training, Education & Development Conference

Registration is now open for AGC’s Training, Education & Development (TED) Conference, to be held October 3-4, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. To kick off the conference FMI will present the results of its 2011 survey of training & development trends in the construction industry. This valuable report will discuss workforce trends, industry challenges, management challenges, why companies are committed to developing their employees even in a down economy, measuring training results, developing future leaders, implementing a corporate university, and much more. The plenary session will go beyond the report’s numbers to give the why and how of construction companies’ choices to invest in education and training by offering best practices and tips gleaned from in-depth interviews with contractors. The TED Conference also will offer plenary and breakout sessions on creating a virtual training room, calculating the value of investing in workforce education, integrating web-based and instructor-led learning, integrating training in succession planning, and more. There will be a special, optional tour of the Builders’ Association Education and Training Center, a 100,000-square-foot facility that includes state-of-the-art laboratories, training rooms, a conference center, and administrative offices. One of the most successful multiple-union apprenticeship facilities in the country, the center includes bricklayers, tile setters, ironworkers, glaziers, carpenters and millwrights, cement masons, plasterers, and painters The TED Conference will be co-located with the HR Professionals Conference, which will take place October 4-5 in the same hotel. There will be one joint session on the morning of October 4 with a keynote by Jay Forte, president of Humanetrics on how HR and training professionals drive results in the workplace.
