Lean Principles – They’re Not Just for Contractors Anymore

Many Owners struggle to effectively manage the design of their projects.  The process can be complex and unruly; budgets and programs may be loosely defined or tend to creep; and the technical details may exceed the Owners knowledge.  But what if the "lean” principles used in construction were applied to the design process?  This webinar uses case studies to examine the idea of using lean construction tools and concepts like Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Improvement, Last Planner, and Look-Ahead Scheduling to define and control the process, manage decision making, and improve collaboration.  Contract terminology, obligations of the Owner/Architect/Contractor project team, and tangible examples of these tools will be reviewed...all with a goal of improving overall project delivery and meeting the expectations of all stakeholders.
