AGC Education and Research Foundation Scholarship and Award Applications Available

The AGC Education and Research Foundation scholarship applicationis now available online. Students in two, four or five-year ABET or ACCE-accredited civil engineering or construction management programs are eligible for $2,500 scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year, renewable for up to three years.  Students must be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year (or the final year of a five-year program) in the fall of 2012 in order to apply.  Graduate students are eligible for up to $3,750 for up to two years. Deadline for applications is November 1, 2011.

  Applications for the James L. Allhands Essay Competition and Outstanding Educator of the Yearare also available. The James L. Allhands Essay Competition is open to any senior- level student in a four or five-year ABET or ACCE- accredited university construction management or construction- related engineering program. The 2011 winning essay, “Initiating a Culture of Lean Construction within the Firm,” by Andrew Talarek, a senior at Purdue University, may be found here. A candidate for the Outstanding Educator award must be a full-time teaching faculty member of a university construction management or construction–related engineering program or with an institution-approved construction option. Nominees must have at least four years full-time teaching experience. The deadline for award applications is November 15, 2011.  Awards will be presented at the AGC Convention in March 2012.
