AGC-ACCE Hold Successful Workshops in Phoenix and Dallas; Milwaukee Upcoming

The AGC of America would like to thank the AGC members from two dozen firms who participated in workshops in Dallas and Phoenix in February to help determine the knowledge, skills and abilities that graduates of construction management and construction technology programs accredited by the American Council on Construction Education (ACCE) should have. ACCE approached AGC last year, asking for industry help to determine its accreditation standards for its hundreds of accredited programs. This is an important opportunity for the industry to influence what is being taught in higher education programs across the country. AGC would like to thank the TEXO, the Arizona Builders’ Alliance and the Arizona Chapter-AGC for hosting the recent workshops. We also would like to thank the members from the following firms who participated: Action Barricade; Austin Bridge & Road; Austin Commercial; Beck; D.P. Electric; Gilbane Building Co.; Hensel Phelps; Holder Construction; Jokake Construction; Kiewit/North Gate Constructors; The Lemoine Company, LLC; Linbeck; Mcarthy Building Companies; MEDCO Const, LLC; Minard-Ames Insurance Services; Performance Contractors, Inc.; Rogers-O’Brien; Satterfield & Pontikes Construction; Sundt Construction; Williams Gas Pipeline - Transco; Wilson Electric Services Corp.; Yates Construction. The next one-day workshop is scheduled for April 25 at the Greater Milwaukee Chapter’s facility. All interested AGC members who currently supervise recent graduates and/or have graduated from a construction program within the last 2-5 years are encouraged to register for the workshop. There is no cost to participate; we are just looking for volunteers who can help provide valuable industry insight into what college graduates need to know before they join the professional workforce.
