ConsensusDocs Releases an Entirely New Platform

There is a better way to build, and ConsensusDocs is transforming contractual negotiations in the design and construction industry with the launch of a new open and collaborative technology platform. Technology has long been harnessed to improve safety, efficiency and quality in construction – now ConsensusDocs has utilized the advantages of technology to simplify project cooperation for improved and expedited contract negotiations that will speed the time to construction and fairly allocate risk, while reducing costly contingencies and adversarial negotiations.  The new ConsensusDocs technology platform provides the ability to:
  • 24/7 Access – Access contracts anytime, anywhere via a secure cloud-based system.
  • Easy to Edit – Use MS Word® to customize ConsensusDocs contracts.
  • Easy to Collaborate – Collaborate with others for free - you control editing rights.
  • Create Favorites – ConsensusDocs contracts modified to meet your unique needs.
  • Conversions - Upload and convert your own documents.
  • Comparisons – Quickly see differences between documents.
  • Free Guidance – Embedded instructions and the free ConsensusDocs Guidebook.
All parties in a construction project deserve to work under a fair contract. ConsensusDocs contracts protect the best interests of the project rather than a singular party, yielding better project results and fewer disputes. Additionally, Subscribers to the new technology will benefit from six new and revised contracts available only through the new platform. New in 2012, ConsensusDocs has added an industry-requested agreement to the 700 Series for Subcontracting – the 702 Standard Purchase Order for Commodity Goods. Initiated by industry stakeholders wanting to reduce the occurrence of project and supply agreements with unfavorable terms and conditions, the 702 provides a simpler form for commodity purchases that will promote better practice and be more conducive to project success. ConsensusDocs contracts are regularly updated to keep pace with changes in the law and in the industry, and all subscribers receive new and updated contracts within their packages at no charge. Newly updated for 2012, ConsensusDocs has revised five foundational contracts:
  • General Contracting 235 – Short Form Agreement Between Owner and Contractor (COW)
  • Design-Build 415 – Agreement Between Owner and Design-Builder (Lump Sum)
  • Design-Build 421 – Statement of Qualifications
  • Design-Build 450 – Agreement Between Design-Builder and Subcontractor
  • Design-Build 460 – Agreement Between Design-Builder and Design-Build Subcontractor (GMP)
