AGC Safety & Health Conference Attendees Prepare to Meet with Their Legislators

AGC’s premier meeting for safety and health professionals will take place July 11-13, 2012, in Washington, D.C.  Attendees will participate in visits to their members of Congress on the hill to discuss key legislative safety and health issues.  AGC supports common-sense Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reform legislation that promotes a safe and healthy work environment, while providing assistance for small businesses. OSHA should focus on achieving a more productive workforce and fewer workplace injuries by promoting more effective and efficient approaches to safety and health through cooperation with employers who not only strive to improve their safety programs, but work to increase enforcement on bad actors. Excessive and unnecessary regulations do not enhance safety for workers; OSHA must fully consider the costs and benefits of proposed regulations prior to proposal to ensure that federal and private resources are utilized efficiently to improve safety.
