AGC Foundation Awards First Case Study Grant

A brand new initiative for the AGC Education and Research Foundation will produce industry case studies for use in the classroom.  In its pilot phase, the Case Study Project issued its first RFP in April for case studies on ethical situations in construction project management or cost estimating. Applicants from academic institutions were required to team with an AGC member contractor.  The winning proposal was submitted by Dr.  Ihab Saad of Northern Kentucky University and a team from Turner Construction Company that includes: Doug Bennett, Project Executive; Ted Boeckerman, Project Executive; and Mark Terhar, Vice President and Operations Manager. The Northern Kentucky team will submit its final case study by the end of 2012. The foundation’s objective is to develop a library of case studies that can be used by university professors in construction education programs and construction contractors in professional education programs. The foundation plans to commission additional case studies in the spring. For more information, contact Foundation Director Melinda Patrician, (703) 837-5342 or patricianm@agc.org.
