EPA Seeking Comments on Report Regarding Waters of the U.S.

Waters Advocacy Coalition to Hold Webinar on How Report Could Impact your Business EPA is seeking comments on its recently released draft report, Connectivity of Streams and Wetlands to Downstream Waters: A Review and Synthesis of the Scientific Evidence, which details how smaller, isolated water bodies are connected to larger ones, and its conclusions.   Along with the release of EPA’s report, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Sept. 17 that it and the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) had sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for interagency review a draft proposed rule to revise federal Clean Water Act (CWA) jurisdiction over waters of the United States.  EPA has publicly acknowledged that the final version of this “connectivity” report will serve as a basis for a joint EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rulemaking to clarify their jurisdiction in Clean Water Act permitting.  Read more about the Clean Water Act in AGC’s environmental news here. To learn more, the Waters Advocacy Coalition (WAC) – of which AGC is a leading board member – and Hunton & Williams LLP are holding a webinar on “How EPA’s Report on the ‘Connectivity of Streams and Wetlands to Downstream Waters Impacts Your Business and Regulation.”  This webinar is scheduled for Oct. 8, 2013, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EDT. The webinar panel will discuss:
  • What are the agencies proposing and how will my business be impacted?
  • What is the timing of the regulatory changes?
  • What should I know about the science of connectivity?
  • How can I get involved? Or what should I do?
