EPA Will Hold Two Free Webinars on Green Infrastructure in March

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has scheduled two free webinars on integrating green infrastructure techniques into community and project stormwater programs.  The first, on March 4, will highlight how two communities have used green infrastructure to help meet Clean Water Act requirements.  The second, on March 6, will look at the use of green infrastructure to manage stormwater runoff from road surfaces. Case Studies: Implementing Green Infrastructure under Enforcement Orders - March 4, 2014, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm EST – This webcast will highlight two communities which have successfully integrated green infrastructure into EPA enforcement agreements to meet regulatory requirements, better manage combined sewer overflows and stormwater runoff, and meet other community goals.  This webcast is the second in a series geared toward public officials and practitioners just beginning to implement green infrastructure, as well as those looking to enhance established programs.  During this series, leading academics and professionals will cover a range of topics and applications, from operations and maintenance to the intersection of green infrastructure and climate change.  Learn more about this webcast series and register for the March 4 webcast here. Innovative Transportation Stormwater Management: Green Infrastructure in Road Projects – March 6, 2014, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm EST – This webcast, jointly held by EPA and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will showcase how two state transportation organizations used green infrastructure initiatives to improve water quality and manage the quality and quantity of stormwater runoff from road surfaces.  This webcast will include brief overviews about green infrastructure from EPA and FHWA.  The speakers will highlight collaborative projects, policy recommendations to strategically incorporate green infrastructure into the roadway funding and approval process, and describe a programmatic approach to the design and construction of stormwater best management practices.  Learn more about this March 6 webcast and register here.
