2013 First Place Outstanding Student Chapter Winner Presents at 95th AGC Annual Convention

Each year the winners of the Outstanding Student Chapters Contest are invited to share their winning project at the AGC Annual Convention. This year, twelve of ISU AGC’s fourteen cabinets, were able to attend the Convention, where they shared details about their Operation Dry Creek Road project in Jonesborough, Tenn. that won them first place. After a flood demolished multiple homes in the area, the ISU students rebuilt seven of the destroyed homes. They were provided only the concrete block foundations. The students were responsible for framing, sheathing, siding, and roofing before being considered complete. ISU AGC spent a total of eight days in Jonesborough over the course of two service trips that involved 67 volunteers to build seven homes and volunteered a total of 3,492 service hours. Their Sponsoring Chapters were AGC of Iowa and Master Builders of Iowa. ISU AGC is a very talented group of young men and women and hold great promise for the future of the construction industry. AGC of America congratulates them once again on their exemplary community service.
