AIA-AGC Joint Committee Meets in Houston, Texas

The AIA-AGC Joint Committee met on March 27-28, 2014, in Houston, Texas. The Joint Committee is Co-Chaired by AGC member Dirk Elsperman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Tarlton Corporation in St. Louis, Mo.  The Committee discussed the status of pending federal legislation, the state of the construction market and how to strengthen the workforce and capitalize on the millennial generation. The Joint Committee also heard a presentation on collaboration in the design and construction industry from Barbara White Bryson, author of The Owner’s Dilemma.  In her book and in the presentation, Bryson explores how best to use the power of the owner and how that power can recreate the building industry. The Joint Committee will next meet on Sept. 9-10, 2014, at the AGC Building Contractors Conference in Austin, Texas.
