Survey Results Show More States are Delaying Projects due to Lost Revenue
On April 29, AGC CEO Steve Sandherr joined other key transportation construction stakeholders in briefing Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao and Federal Highway Administrator Nicole Nason on the impacts of COVID-19 on highway and transportation contractors. Sandherr relayed the many issues AGC members have been facing, including, but not limited to, ongoing projects being halted, work being delayed or disrupted, and future projects being cancelled. Due to a host of states reporting significant declining transportation revenues, Sandherr also reiterated AGC’s support for $49.95B in rescue funding for state DOTs to remain operational and keep projects and lettings moving forward as well as bringing certainty to the industry through multi-year infrastructure legislation. An AGC survey found this week that two more states, Kentucky and Colorado, will join Ohio, North Carolina, and Missouri in announcing plans to or are seriously considering cancelling or postponing upcoming lettings in their states.
