AGC Lean Construction Committee Launches New Series to Promote Lean Construction Methodology

In a new “Why Should YOU Adopt Lean” educational material series, members of the AGC Lean Construction Committee integrate impactful research with approachable “get started” guide to help more contractors adopt Lean Construction Methodology in the field.

Drawing on the expertise of industry veterans, the series underscores the effectiveness of Lean Construction methods. “These flyers act as a compass, guiding anyone—whether in management or on the craft side—towards understanding Lean principles, methods, and tools applicable from design to execution in our construction environment,” says Stephen Dennis, a Lean expert and committee member. “It’s a map to the starting point of a journey for companies aiming to enhance efficiency and deliver greater value to their clients.”

In recent years, the AGC Lean Construction Committee has introduced more contractors to Lean Construction through its continuous efforts. This new series builds on those efforts by promoting Lean practices with approachable language and actionable suggestions. It highlights AGC’s research on improving efficiency and eliminating waste through Lean Construction methods. Jeff Christianson, Vice Chair of the Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for the series’ impact. “These documents showcase empirical data demonstrating that projects utilizing Lean tools and practices achieve better results and foster a better work environment for our team members. We are excited to introduce Lean to as many contractors as possible. Those of us who have implemented Lean tools on our projects know that Lean Builders Do It Better.”

The series is now available on the AGC Lean Construction Committee’s learning resources page and will be featured in a series of social media promotions, as well as in future Lean Construction Education Program courses.
