The Associated General Contractors of America and Procore Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: PCOR), a leading provider of construction management software, are launching a new scholarship program to assist African American and disadvantaged minority students who are studying construction fields at historically black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. The new scholarship is being made possible thanks to a $250,000 challenge gift from Procore that the association will now fundraise to meet and exceed.

Americans considered several significant state and local ballot initiatives this year that would provide public financing for K-12, higher education, and other education facility construction projects. AGC and many of its Chapters across the nation generally support increased construction investment in education facilities. In 2018 the Project Delivery Forum changed its name to Project Innovation and Delivery Forum to broaden its scope and put emphasis on the innovations necessary to deliver projects in the 21st century. The mission of the forum is to align the execution of construction projects with the latest innovations in safety, quality and productivity, and to educate the industry on best practices in order to deliver quality projects on time and on budget.

AGC of America and AGC of San Antonio successfully delivered the brand new second edition of AGC’s Project Manager Development Program courses January 20th through the 24th to a sold-out class held at the AGC of San Antonio. Delivery of this course highlights the AGC of San Antonio’s commitment to educating and engaging their members. The updated curriculum directly addresses the core business of General Contractors, Specialty Contractors, and all trade partners. The class consisted of a mix of all three contractor types and everyone benefitted from instruction from AGC chapter instructors from AGC of Wisconsin, AGC of Houston and The Arizona Builder’s Alliance.

AGC is proud to announce that the first group of participants has been awarded the Certificate of Management-Lean Construction (CM-Lean) credential. The CM-Lean credential was created to allow individuals the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of concepts related to lean principles, processes, and tools as they relate to the construction industry as defined in AGC’s Lean Construction Education Program.
