AGC of America has posted the link to our recent free Training, Education & Development Forum Town Hall webinar that shared some of the highlights of the TED Forum’s activities this year and provided a great panel discussion on the benefits of a credential.
It seems as if school just started, but we are already just six weeks out from the Nov. 1 deadline for 2013-14 AGC Education and Research Foundation scholarship applications. If you know a student who might qualify or can get the word out, applicants can find the full criteria for scholarship eligibility and the application at http://scholarship.agc.org/.
Registration is now open for the Associated General Contractors of America’s (AGC) 2012 HR Professionals Conference and Training, Education & Development (TED) Conference. For 2012, the conferences will be co-located in San Antonio, Texas, with the TED Conference beginning on the morning of Monday, Oct. 15, lasting to midday on Oct. 16, and the HR Professionals Conference beginning on the morning of Oct. 16, and concluding at noon on Oct. 17.
The National Center for Construction Education & Research, AGC of America’s craft training partner, will be re-launching its “certified written” credential as “knowledge verified” to better reflect the actual status and accomplishments of each craft professional. Beginning Jan. 1, 2013, NCCER will use the term “knowledge verified” to refer to craftworkers who successfully pass the written assessment for the first time. The written test required to obtain this credential will not change, only the name.
AGC will be sponsoring the Big Build at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 22, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The event is designed for children ages 5-13 and includes fun construction-related activities, including dry wall finishing, woodworking and nail driving, as well as the opportunity to meet and talk with plumbers, architects and landscape designers. The event is free and open to the public. A $5 donation is suggested.
The Construction Leadership Council is holding it's annual working weekend on Sept. 20-22 in Seattle, Wash. AGC is seeking young and mid-career professionals to attend the annual two-day event. Chapter staff who work with CLC groups also are encouraged to attend. The event is designed to help AGC of America’s mid-career professionals get connected and share best practices. Attendees do not have to be a member of a CLC group to join this event.
