Unit 3: Lean Workstructuring, in AGC’s Lean Construction Education Program is now available!
AGC of America is working to determine the future of our oldest professional development curricula, our Supervisory Training Program and we are looking for input from members, Chapters, and current and past STP participants. We have created three short surveys – about a dozen questions – asking about current and potential future use of STP, both as it currently exists and how it might look in future updates.
The U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration (ETA) has issued a Training and Employment Notice (TEN 13-12) that defines a “quality pre-apprenticeship program” as having training and standards based on industry standards, prepares individuals to enter and succeed in an apprenticeship program, and has a documented partnership with at least one registered apprenticeship program.
AGC of America is pleased to announce that two hundred individuals have earned the Certificate of Management—Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM). Professionals located all over the nation have traveled to the 18 test centers to take their exam that earns them the professional accreditation, the Certificate of Management-Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM).  The exam concludes the BIM Education Program, a series of four courses the association developed to help construction professionals learn how to use the construction process.
AGC Student Chapter members and educators are invited to attend AGC of America’s 2013 Annual Convention, to be held March 6-9, in Palm Springs, Calif., at reduced registration rates of $75 for students and $150 for educators.
The 2013 Training, Education & Development Conference Task Force is looking for AGC members and Chapter staff to help shape the 2013 TED Conference. The task force will meet virtually several times over the course of 2013 to construct a list of topics for call for presentations for 2013 conference, review proposals, help determine the conference agenda, help revise and fill holes in conference agenda and review post-conference evaluations to determine changes & best practices for 2014.
Due to popular demand, AGC has added an additional program to be held January 27-February 1, 2013 in Dallas. AGC's Construction Project Manager Course (PMC) participants experience an interactive program that explores the critical areas of project management that seasoned project managers tackle on a daily basis. The course's curriculum builds on itself throughout the week, starting with the impact planning has on the overall project and moving on to cover scheduling, productivity and subcontractor/vendor management as well as legal issues and contract clauses, record-keeping and much more.
On Nov. 11-17, project managers and construction executives will take part in a unique week-long training to strengthen their business proficiencies and construction knowledge through the guidance of industry experts and by sharing best practices and ideas with fellow construction professionals. For over 20 years, AGC Advanced Management Program (AMP) attendees have gained valuable resources and industry contacts to help them succeed in today’s competitive market.
The AGC Education and Research Foundation will launch its Faculty Internship initiative in the summer of 2013 following two successful summers testing the program with interns from Purdue, the University of Oklahoma, and the Wentworth Institute of Technology.  AGC contractor partners Pepper Construction, JE Dunn Construction and Bowen Engineering Corporation hosted interns during the pilot phase of the program. 
The AGC of America Construction Leadership Council is currently accepting applications for its Steering Committee. The AGC CLC functions as a forum in which members can network, socialize, and exchange ideas on issues facing mid-career construction professionals. To ensure direction and focus, the CLC has a Steering Committee, whose members rotate on a three-year basis.
