A brand new initiative for the AGC Education and Research Foundation will produce industry case studies for use in the classroom.  In its pilot phase, the Case Study Project issued its first RFP in April for case studies on ethical situations in construction project management or cost estimating. Applicants from academic institutions were required to team with an AGC member contractor. 
The AGC TED Forum will host a Town Hall webinar on Aug. 29, 2012, to discuss professional credentials and their use in the design and construction industry.  How credentials - such as the widely recognized LEED AP and the newly launched CM-BIM credential from AGC of America - are used in the marketplace and who needs them will be the focus of this webinar.

Liz Elvin, AGC of America’s Senior Director of Workforce & Education Advancement, has been invited by U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis to serve a second two-year term on the federal Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA).
AGC members are being asked to respond to a short survey on craft wages created by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) to better align its marketing and recruitment efforts with current industry wages for craft professionals.

The AGC Education and Research Foundation Scholarship application for the 2013-14 academic year will be available online beginning July 1.  The application period runs through midnight EST November 1 but students can get a jump on the process by starting now!  Full criteria for scholarship eligibility and the application may be found at http://scholarship.agc.org/.  Students in ABET or ACCE-accredited civil engineering or construction management programs are eligible for $2,500 scholarships, renewable for up to three years.  Students must be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year (or the final year of a five-year program) in the fall of 2013 in order to apply.  Graduate students are eligible for $3,750 annually for up to two years.
AGC of America is pleased to announce that over 130 individuals have earned the Certificate of Management—Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM). Professionals nationwide have completed AGC’s BIM Education Program, a four-course series designed to provide the tools to effectively manage the process of Building Information Modeling, and the certificate’s exam to earn this professional credential.
